Tesco’s e-learning material wins prestigious international award
Tesco Central Europe’s e-learning material on the company’s food surplus donation process won Germany’s most prestigious education-innovation contest and received the Comenius EduMedia Award. The award judged by an international jury is one of the biggest acknowledgements of multimedia learning products, given to those who create exemplary media materials for educational purposes.
The award was created by GPI (Institut für Bildung und Medien der Gesellschaft für Pedagogik und Information e.V.), a scientific organization focusing on multimedia, educational technologies, and media didactics. Comenius Award is the only European media award which is independent and transparent through its whole process.
More than 200 projects were nominated from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Finland, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Iceland, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, and Sweden, which were awarded in 16 categories with Comenius-Siegel and Comenius-Medaille acknowledgments. Tesco Central Europe’s e-learning material on the food surplus donation programme was given the Comenius-Siegel Award in the category Media and Adult Education by the international jury.
The company created the e-learning material in 4 languages (HU, SK, PL, CZ) with a double purpose. The informative and interactive online material makes the learning process easier for those colleagues that are new to the food surplus donation program. Furthermore, it helps to freshen up and deepen the knowledge of those employees who are already familiar with the system or work in the offices. It also incentivizes employees to do everything they can to reduce food waste. The e-learning material guides the user through the process of food saving in a playful way and contains information that makes the user more sensitive toward the topic as well as incentivizes them for more conscious shopping decisions.
Since the introduction of the online e-learning material near 13,000 Central European Tesco employees have completed the course.
